Strange Characters in Portals & Emails

How can I address strange characters appearing on my Compass-360 Portals and E-mails?

If you create or copy content for your Compass-360 emails or portals from an outside source (like a document or from a webpage for example), when you past this content into your Compass-360 email or portal, you may see that some characters appear incorrectly.  These characters are often referred to as special characters (such as &, # “, or simply bold text).

The issue arises when you copy and past formatted text or special characters, from an outside application to Compass-360.  Strange characters appear because there are formatting commands in the original program that let the program know it should insert a special character or formatted text in the original program. Different programs interpret these formatting commands differently. So when these formatting commands are pasted into a different program, like Compass-360, those formatting commands often tell the second program to insert a different character or format.

If you see special characters in an email or in a Compass-360 email or portal, you can resolve these special character by deleting the content from the email asset or the portal CMS, and retyping that text from within the portal CMS or the email asset in Compass-360. Save the portal CMS or email asset. The correct text will now appear in the email or on the portal.
