Creating Editable Templates for Fixed Usage Types
Locked templates of a particular usage type can be copied to allow you to add design elements to create custom forms. It is not recommended that you remove or add merge fields to these documents at this time.
- From the File Cabinet module Folder View tab, expand the Templates folder.
- You will see a list of all documents created by you that have been set to type: Template as well as all of the system templates (identified with a icon) that are linked to various usages primarily with regard to event print materials.
- If you wish to create a custom version of a locked template, you can right click the desired template and click Copy.
- Determine the folder that you want to save the copy into and right click that folder and click Paste.
- Compass will create a copied version of the document and open the editing window for you. Here you will see that the copied version retains the appropriate Usage Type which Compass will recognize.
- Click Modify Template to open Word and view the document. Here you can change fonts, add text and graphics to the template. Close word click Save to commit the changes.
- Click Save in the Edit Document window in Compass to update the file on the server.
- You will now see the document available as an option in applicable actions in Compass.
