Document Usage Definitions
The document usage type determines where a particular file will be made available within your database.
General
Document is stored within your database and will appear in the File Cabinet Module for general access and is not intended for use within areas of the database.
Letter
Document will appear anywhere that you are generating a hard copy letter for print. Typical usages include mailings generated from the Query module; receipts and thank you letters from the Income module and Events module, and targeted letters to specific constituents from the Constituent module.
Mailing Label
Document will appear where you are generating hard copy address labels typically in the same places that you would be generating a letter for print
Import File
Upload a document that was imported into your database to retain a copy of the original data.
Procurement Document
This usage type is an internal classification for documents that are uploaded as part of the procured item creation and not for use in defining documents that are being uploaded via the File Cabinet module.
Procurement Photo
This usage type is an internal classification for documents that are uploaded as part of the procured item creation and not for use in defining documents that are being uploaded via the File Cabinet module
Fixed Usage Types
The following Usage types are linked to specific templates that come preloaded into your database for generating hard copy content for event activities. Because these utilize certain merge fields that are linked behind the scenes you cannot create a new document or template set to these usage types.
You can however copy the existing locked templates in your File Cabinet that are set to these usage types and edit your copied version to them make available for their specific use. See Creating Editable Templates for fixed Usage Types for more information.
